Travel guide of BangladeshWhile filming a climate change documentary called Thirty Million for the United Nations, I was blown away by the beauty of the Bangladeshi people — both in their character and appearance. The people we met were hospitable, pragmatic, and had an incredible strength in dealing with the threat climate change poses to their fragile land. Bangladesh faces losing 18% of its land, displacing thirty million people, with one metre sea-level rise. To me, the expression on this coastal girl’s face captures the seriousness of the predicament she and her people are in.

When we get to the river my heat sinks. It is wider than I've ever seen, flowing swift and strong. The water is a turbid brown from eroding the banks it usually passes by so softly. Branches have been blow in by the storm. The water eddies around them, but not that relaxed way water usually does, but harshly, more like mini vortexes. In the rain that still falls the surface is pitted so thickly that the radiating ripples cancel one another out. Adding to the torrent coming from the stone-grey sky is the April melt from the mountains to the East. This river is not what we prepared ourselves for

Cox’s Bazar is a town on the southeast coast of Bangladesh. It’s known for its very long, sandy beachfront, stretching from Sea Beach in the north to Kolatoli Beach in the south. Aggameda Khyang monastery is home to bronze statues and centuries-old Buddhist manuscripts. South of town, the tropical rainforest of Himchari National Park has waterfalls and many birds. North, sea turtles breed on nearby Sonadia Island.

At the bud stage, sunflowers exhibit a unique trait called heliotropism, with which the bud of the sunflower faces the sun at all times throughout the day, starting the day facing east and ending it facing west. Not all sunflower petals are yellow. ... The sunflower is the only flower with the word "flower" in its name.
